Now Hiring: Short Order Cook

Position: Part-Time Short Order Cook
Pay: $17/hour + Tip-Out
Schedule: Saturday & Sunday | 11:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Location: On-Site | Detroit, MI

The Bronx Bar, a longtime neighborhood favorite in Detroit's historic Cass Corridor, is looking for an experienced Short Order Cook to join our weekend kitchen team.

Our kitchen moves fast, and we're looking for someone who knows their way around a grill, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in putting out consistently great food.

This is a hands-on position for an experienced cook who can handle a high-volume kitchen independently.

What You'll Do

  • Cook multiple burgers simultaneously to precise temperatures, from rare to well-done.

  • Prepare and assemble sandwiches and other menu items accurately and efficiently.

  • Operate the grill and fryer while managing multiple orders.

  • Deliver food directly to guests in the dining room.

  • Assist with bussing tables and maintaining a clean dining area.

  • Load, run, and unload the dishwasher as needed.

  • Complete food preparation and restocking between orders.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen throughout each shift.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous short order cooking experience is required. This is not an entry-level position.

  • Strong grill skills, including the ability to manage multiple burger temperatures at once.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize orders, and work independently.

  • Willingness to pitch in wherever needed, from cooking to cleaning to serving food.

  • Ability to remain on your feet and move at a fast pace throughout a 7–8-hour shift.

  • Dependability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

  • Availability to work both Saturday and Sunday shifts.

Compensation & Schedule

$17 per hour + Tip-Out

In addition to hourly pay, this position receives a percentage of food sales as a tip-out each shift, recognizing the cook's role in both kitchen operations and guest service.

Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, 11:30 AM – 7:00 PM.
